How to get prepared for
that?
' So teach us to number our
days that we may get a heart of wisdom.'
Psalms 90:12
In Deuteronomy 16.1 it is written that the first month
of the biblical year is called Aviv. Aviv is also the season – spring, that
starts in Israel during the time of Pesach.
This year the 1st of Aviv, the
true Rosh HaShana, Head of the year will be from the sunset of March 16th
to the sunset of March 17th.
Pesach starts on the 14th of
Aviv which this year on the Gregorian calendar will start March 30th afternoon.
As we count our days based on the Word of
God, led by His Spirit we can cooperate with what He wants to release in our
lives in every prophetic season of the biblical year.
If we go to some scriptures we can see how our people
prepared themselves for Pesach.
In Exodus we read that before our people could eat the
lamb with their families, they saw every Egyptian idol falling down through the
10 plagues by the power of YHWH.
After that they had to sacrifice the lamb and strike
the blood on their doorposts believing that through this act they would not be
destroyed by the angel of death that would pass over them.
Before eating their Pesach lamb they were separated
from the idols around them and that separation was sealed by the blood
of the Lamb.
On the book of Joshua we read that 4 days before
Pesach our people crossed the Jordan River with the Ark of the Covenant and
right after that all the men were circumcised. Those huge events happened just
before Pesach.
After the circumcision the Lord said to Joshua that on
that day He “rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off them.” Jos. 5.9
A few days later they celebrated Pesach in Gilgal!
Again we see a separation that was sealed by
the water and the blood.
On the book of 2 Chronicles chapter 30 we read that
king Hezekiah gathered our people from different tribes and cities to
Jerusalem.
On verse 14 we see that before they celebrated Pesach
they “took away the altars that were in Jerusalem and all the altars for
incense took they away and cast them into the brook Kidron”.
Although they celebrated the feast one month later
because the priests had not sanctified themselves in time, they went up to
Jerusalem with humble hearts (verses 11, 12, 15) and were determined to get rid
of every idol.
They celebrated the feast with great joy (verse 21)
and the whole assembly decided to celebrate it for more seven days!
'So there was great joy in Jerusalem, for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there had been nothing like this in Jerusalem. 'Then the priests and the
Levites arose and blessed the people, and their voice was heard, and their
prayer came to his holy habitation in heaven.'
2 Chronicles 30:26-27
Let us seek to
start the Biblical New Year and eat our Pesach lamb purified from our idols and
all uncleanness that can hinder us from rejoicing in Him and having our prayers
reach His holy habitation!
